Waukesha County Prosecutor Announces Candidacy for Waukesha Circuit Court Branch 12

September 6, 2023

Endorsed by law enforcement agencies and judges throughout the county

Today, Waukesha Assistant District Attorney Jack Pitzo announced his candidacy for Waukesha County Circuit Court, Branch 12.  Having worked closely with law enforcement over his thousands of cases as a prosecutor, Jack enters the race with a significant amount of support from those who are on the front line keeping Waukesha County safe.  Waukesha County Sheriff Eric Severson, the Waukesha County Police Chiefs Association, and the Milwaukee Police Association have all endorsed Jack’s candidacy for judge based on his record as a prosecutor and his commitment to law and order.

During his time as a prosecutor, Jack has overseen the convictions of thousands of criminal cases including a jury conviction of Nathaniel Benton, who attempted to murder two police officers in Waukesha County in 2020.  He is an accomplished trial attorney with experience in representing the people of Wisconsin in hundreds of motion hearings and over 50 jury and court trials, involving a wide variety of crimes.  His experience in the courtroom is why he is endorsed by Waukesha County District Attorney Sue Opper:

“I am so pleased to endorse Jack Pitzo for Circuit Court Judge of Waukesha County.  Jack has worked diligently as a prosecutor over the years to protect the families and business owners of Waukesha County.  He has significant courtroom experience, handling everything from impaired driving to homicide cases.

Jack has a profound respect for law enforcement and has gained their trust. He will strictly apply the Constitution at all times,  which is something I know that law enforcement values.  They want to know if they follow the rule of law and do their job, they don’t have to worry about a Judge with a personal agenda shredding their cases or handing out weak sentences. Jack has the experience and integrity to make an outstanding Judge!”

Jack enters the race for the circuit court with the support of numerous judicial officials who have seen Jack’s temperament inside and outside of the courtroom.  He has worked closely with crime victims and has advocated for them to ensure they secure justice.  Court of Appeals Judge Maria Lazar offered this statement in her endorsement of Jack:

“Now, more than ever, Wisconsin—and Waukesha—need judges with integrity and wisdom to protect the public and our Constitutions.  ADA Jack Pitzo more than fits that bill:  he has served the law and prosecuted cases in Waukesha for years.  I’ve had the opportunity to personally observe his faithfulness to the law, his dedication to the Constitution, and his determination in several matters including a complex attempted homicide trial.  I strongly believe that ADA Pitzo will have the appropriate judicial demeanor and will preside with fairness, impartiality, and courage—the courage to seek this position, the courage to stand true to the law, and the courage to follow that law no matter what.  He has my wholehearted endorsement.  Waukesha could not elect a finer, more capable circuit court judge.”

Jack lives in Brookfield with wife, Emme; daughter, Lucy; and Duke, the family’s golden retriever.  Jack currently serves on the board of directors of both the Food Pantry Serving Waukesha County and the Waukesha County Bar Association. He graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Arts and received his Juris Doctor from Marquette University Law School.
