Waukesha County Judge Laura Lau announced her endorsement of Assistant District Attorney Jack Pitzo for Waukesha County Circuit Court, Branch 12. Judge Lau announced her retirement from the circuit court in late August and knows Jack has the temperament and trial court experience to serve Waukesha County.
“I have seen Jack work to keep our communities safe during his time as a prosecutor and I know he will always put the safety of victims and the citizens of Waukesha County first as a judge,” Judge Lau said. “I learned a lot about Jack’s toughness, as well as his compassion in dealing with individuals, when we served together on the OWI/Alcohol Treatment court for over three years. Waukesha County is fortunate to have such an incredibly capable and qualified person step up and run for the seat I will be vacating.”
Born and raised in Waukesha County, Judge Lau was elected to Branch 12 in 2018 with the support of many of the same law enforcement officials who are backing Jack’s campaign. Before joining the bench, Judge Lau served for over a decade as a Waukesha County court commissioner and remains an engaged member in numerous non-profit organizations in Waukesha County.
“Judge Lau has been an incredible mentor to me during my time as an assistant district attorney and I am grateful to have her endorsement,” Jack said. “She holds all litigants accountable for their actions while understanding the complex dynamic that addiction and mental health play in our criminal justice system. Her compassion and empathy on the bench is an important characteristic I intend to continue in Branch 12.”
Jack lives in Brookfield with wife, Emme; daughter, Lucy; and Duke, the family’s golden retriever. Jack currently serves on the board of directors of both the Food Pantry Serving Waukesha County and the Waukesha County Bar Association. He graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Arts and received his Juris Doctor from Marquette University Law School.
